And I'm not saying that it doesn't work. But they will not motivate you. You will not be happier either more committed nor believe more in the company's mission. Far from it.

If as a leader you always use economical bonus to motivate your team, you are making them assimilate the formula: objective-reward. That means you are developing a culture where:

• The team will not help each other: they will be selfish because they only want to achieve their goals.
• No one will be committed to the company. Don't explain them about vision or values. They will not care about anything other than money.
• It will only work in the short term. The employees will join another company where they will get higher economic incentive to meet the objectives.
